It was chaired by the EU High Level Group on Own Resources<\/a> lead by Mario Monti. The<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/budget\/library\/biblio\/documents\/multiannual_framework\/HLGOR_1stassessment2014final_en.pdf\"> report on EU\u2019s Own Resources<\/a> that was published last month was presented under the idea of reforming the EU funding system.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aegee.blogactiv.eu\/files\/2015\/01\/mario_monti-e1420824842315.jpg\"><img class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1251 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/aegee.blogactiv.eu\/files\/2015\/01\/mario_monti-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">AEGEE \/ European Students\u2019 Forum has been monitoring the developments on the area of own financing of the European Union with special interest, predicting it as one of the most important challenges that the European institutions have to face with.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As members of the organization European Movement, AEGEE welcomes the tendency of the EU to increase the self-financed packages. In this sense, in 2013 EMI\u2019s Council meeting a plan for Sustainable Development and Employment was suggested and presented on the<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/citizens-initiative\/public\/initiatives\/ongoing\/details\/2014\/000002\/en\"> ECI (2014)000002<\/a> funded through a Financial Transaction Tax.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">AEGEE would like to encourage all involved subjects to work on the development of the Financial Transaction Tax linked to the Plan for Sustainable Development and Employment fostering policies directly addressed to lower the current unemployment and underemployment rates.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The High Level Group, that was set up to develop ideas for EU own financing for EU\u2019s 2014-2020 MMF, is expected to deliver its final recommendations before the end of 2016.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">New Deal 4 Europe registered on March 2014 the ECI for a European Special Plan for Sustainable Development and Employment, the collection of which is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p><em>Written by Pablo Hern\u00e1ndez, Policy Officer of AEGEE-Europe on Youth Employment<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 8 January a European Parliament Conference of Presidents took place.
