Human Rights Day is an annual AEGEE project, first implemented in 2017, celebrated on and around December 10th. It reflects AEGEE’s commitment to advocating for human rights and tackling discrimination on multiple grounds.

Each year, the project team coordinates a network-wide campaign and publishes a booklet of activities that AEGEE Locals can use to organise their own events – from workshops and forums to human library sessions – in the lead-up to International Human Rights Day.

The 2026 edition, titled Equal Opportunities for Youth in a Just Transition, is funded by Generation Climate Europe through the Funding Fairer Futures campaign – a European project under the DEAR Programme. Running from June 2026 to February 2027 across Belgium and 12 other EU countries, this edition focuses on the intersection of climate justice and human rights, with a particular lens on housing, energy poverty, and equal opportunities for young people in the green transition. Activities include a social media campaign, local events organised across the AEGEE Network, a Youth Conference, and a final Policy Recommendation addressed to European decision-makers.

Y Vote /yvote/ Sun, 19 Aug 2018 14:14:22 +0000 /?p=7995

Y Vote is an AEGEE project at its 5th edition, having successfully run campaigns in 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024, with a current edition focusing on youth participation in democracy.

Its goal is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of voting in the European, national and local elections, their role in political activism, and the impact of the European Parliament on their everyday life.

Our activities around the project include:

Our agenda for Europe where we create a space in order to deepen people’s understanding of the institutions and offer them a space for discussion and debate. Conventions then take place in our AEGEE locals lasting 1 to 4 days. They include thematic workshops and social activities.

An ambassador’s programme where we encourage young people to engage and participate directly in a pan-Europe campaign around the elections. It is mainly aimed at young people who want to get actively involved in volunteering and organising activities in their community while joining a European campaign and a community of like-minded people.

– The Y vote local actions where we encourage youth people to bring the elections closer to their communities. In 2024, 18 local activities were organized in 9 different countries with more than 350 local participants.

Summer University /summeruniversity/ Sun, 19 Aug 2018 13:15:45 +0000 /?p=7997

The Summer University (SU) project has been at the heart of AEGEE since 1988, born out of a commitment to promoting European integration. Today its purpose remains the same: giving young people the chance to experience the diversity of European cultures and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to live in a multicultural society.

Organised by AEGEE Locals across Europe, Summer Universities last from six days to four weeks and combine thematic workshops, non-formal education, and social activities. Each edition focuses on one or two topics – such as local culture, sustainability, social inclusion, arts and creativity, or civic education – explored through games, workshops, and activities led by local teams or invited trainers.

Europe on Track /europeontrack/ Sun, 19 Aug 2018 12:55:33 +0000 /?p=8005

Europe on Track (EoT) is an AEGEE volunteer project active since 2013, raising awareness of the role of young people in shaping cultural and civic engagement across Europe. Each year, six ambassadors travel by train through the whole continent in one month, delivering workshops, interviewing young people, and organising events in cooperation with volunteers from across the Network. An online team ensures further reach and inclusivity.

The project explore s a different theme each edition: from “Intersectional identities and their role in shaping political representation and civic engagement” to “Eco-anxiety” and its impact on youth. It is made possible through the support of Eurail, the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe, the European Union, and Marevisie.

AEGEE Day /aegee-day/ Fri, 17 Aug 2018 17:04:39 +0000 /?p=8016

AEGEE Day is an annual celebration held on and around April 16th – the day marking the foundation of AEGEE in 1985. Launched in 2016, the project unites the entire AEGEE Network around a shared theme, with the goal of organising at least one activity per Local to celebrate the organisation’s values and spirit regardless of where members are based.

Each year, AEGEE Locals across Europe organise a variety of activities such as workshops and seminars on European topics, cultural exchanges, social events, and community outreach.

In 2025, AEGEE marked its 40th anniversary with a special gala and training event in Groningen, Netherlands, bringing together members from across the Network to celebrate the organization’s four decades of activity.

Come celebrate!
