  • Participation in MOVE WEEK – taking place all over Europe in the first week of October 2012

History:

Watching the Dancing Working Group disappear, the members of AEGEE wanted to keep the focus on physical activity and what it can do for non-formal education. Therefore, they commenced working on a Sports Working Group (SWG), which after being approved at Agora Enschede 2012 became an official Working Group of AEGEE, consisting of members who want to raise awareness on issues related to sport within AEGEE and the European youth.

Getting Involved

The Sports Working Group is looking for members with an interest not only in sports, but also in being active at the European level of AEGEE. Implementing sports in AEGEE has opened a wide number of opportunities, so everybody with an interest in organising local sport events or workshops on how to implement sports in non-formal education, in volunteering in international sport events in order to gain knowledge about organising bigger events and more, are welcomed with open arms.

Related fields of study:

There are no specific related fields of study as the SWG deals with event organisation, fundraising, PR, and even politics, so people with many different interests can join. In the end, what everybody has in common is the main interest in sports.

Working methods:

E-mails, Skype meetings, Facebook groups, sharing data systems (Google docs, dropbox, etc).

Amount of work required: It depends on the task – it can be anything from 1 to 10 hours a week.
