History:

Work on the topic of Eastern Partnership started at the end of 2010. The Eastern Partnership project was created as a result of the initiative developed by the Comité Directeur 2010-2011. Based on the research carried out on the region and the current issues that could be interesting for AEGEE, the Eastern Partnership Agenda was published in January 2011. Right after the concept development, a team was formed in order to work on the Flagship Topic concept proposal. After being selected as the Flagship Topic, the Eastern Partnership project was launched and team of 16 people was created in May 2011.

Working within the framework of the EU’s Eastern Partnership Programme Platform 4 “Contact between people”, the Eastern Partnership project covers the following fields of interest:

  • Youth Mobility in Education
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Active Citizenship

The project is focused on youth from all over Europe, as well as on relevant stakeholders, such as youth NGOs working on European integration, National Youth Councils, international platforms focusing on similar issues, universities from Eastern Partnership countries as well as from EU member states, policy makers from Eastern Partnership countries and EU member states (ex: Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, Youth Eastern Partnership Project, etc).

The project is currently at the stage of implementing actions, so for now the biggest achievement which has been made is raising awareness about currently existing issues for young people from the Eastern part of our Network.

Getting Involved

The ideal member of the EaP team is a highly motivated young person with an active position, interested in the Eastern Partnership Programme and willing to change the current situation. All members of the team are selected according to the project’s needs, no matter if they are new members of AEGEE or experienced ones. Currently, the majority of the team are new AEGEE members, who have only been part of the Network for less than a year. All requirements depend on the open position and are usually stated in the open call given for each of the positions.
