Welcome

It is my utmost pleasure to be presenting the Youth & Globalisation European Project which ever since 2003 has been on the track promoting youth development and active citizenship in our globalised world. For the year 2004/05, having a wonderful new team formation, the Project is putting forward an inspiring theme to take a bolder pro-active role within the globalisation discourse.

Indeed, the Project revolves around three distinct yet complimentary activities: a training course on youth empowerment in Odessa , Ukraine ; a seminar on peace and stability in Madrid , Spain and an international conference on active frameworks for democratic citizenship in Maastricht , Netherlands .

The Youth & Globalisation Project remains based on a philosophy of democratic participation coupled with the richness of intercultural exchange so as to promote fully the building and strengthening of youth participation and democratic citizenship in a truly open global society. Having the support of academics and experts in the field, the Project strives to offer a meaningful platform for youth leaders to pro-actively work for and within their own community so as to maximise their potential and harvest.

It is a great satisfaction to present a Project which has obtained financial support from key European Institutions. Indeed, heartfelt thanks is to go to all our thematic and strategic partners who have believed in our concept from the very first day and without whom we would have never been able to apply for the financial grants.

Hence on behalf of the entire Project Team as well as all our Partners, I hope to be seeing you all in Odessa , Madrid and Maastricht in the coming months!

Globally yours,

Alexianne Galea
